While still in its infancy, many Vita launch titles have not scored as well as their PSP predecessors.
Sequels should, in theory, receive higher review scores than prequels. Development budgets increase, technology becomes more advanced and companies conduct extensive focus testing to see what works and what doesn't. By this logic, you should expect part two (and so on and so forth) to smoke the original.
Yeah right. Despite having access to all sorts of resources, video game publishers continue to come up short in the sequel department. You always have exceptions. Mass Effect 2, for example, is significantly better than the original, but this isn't always the case.
Take PlayStation Vita. Sony's new system has a wonderful lineup of enjoyable games, many of which are part of franchises that also appeared on PlayStation Portable, and while it's still early, most of these PSP games currently hold higher review averages.
That said, here's a list of franchises that have graced both Sony handhelds and the Gamerankings review averages for each title.
Keep in mind this isn't an exact science. Most of these PSP games appeared more than five years ago, and were reviewed by a higher volume of critics. On that note, let's begin.
