Dig a little deeper with our beginner's guide.
We've been playing Micro Miners non-stop since we published our review of this fine game yesterday afternoon. It's a quirky Lemmings-like that'll keep you on your toes as you struggle to keep your groups of miners borrowing deeper and deeper towards their favorite mineral deposits.
If you've been getting stuck into the platform puzzling of Micro Miners, but are finding the pace just a little too overwhelming, check out our beginner's hints and tips for mastering this marvelous little indie title.
How can I climb uphill in Micro Miners?
First of all, you'll need to carve a zig-zagging pathway from your miners towards the goal. This only works for the cream-colored miners who can hop around the landscape. They'll hop left and right vertically towards the goal, but remember to dig them a path downwards before they get swallowed up by the top of the screen!
How can I make different miners cross different paths in Micro Miners?
First of all, create a tunnel for one group of miners to head towards their preferred mineral. Once they're all in position and chipping away at the mineral node, block off the tunnel using the construction tool. From here, you can carve a new tunnel that leads the new group over the top of the blocked section towards their own mineral deposit.
How can I make sure my miners destroy the entire node in Micro Miners?
There are two techniques for making this happen. First of all, if the node is small, make sure that your team of miners arrives at the top-center point of the mineral deposit. From here they'll borrow down evenly through the entire thing.
If the mineral deposit is very long horizontally, carve out a tunnel along the entire length but make sure you leave a small gap of dirt between the tunnel and the mineral node. Once you have your miners spread across the length of this corridor, swipe away the last layer of dirt to have them all tumble on top of the node evenly.
How can I clear nodes more quickly in Micro Miners?
As mentioned above, if you want your bouncing miners to chip away at an entire node, don't have them approach from the sides or underneath (it will take them ages to leap at the last few pixels). Approach from above, and drop them all on top of the mineral.
How should I place bombs in Micro Miners?
Keep in mind that your bombs have an area-of-effect blast, so you want to get the most possible use out of each one. Consider the access points you need to create, and if that's for multiple groups then ensure that the bomb blast will provide access to both sets of miners.
How do I get three stars on a node in Micro Miners?
If you want to clear a large node to a three-star standard, you may have to combine a few techniques. First, drop a line of miners on top of it as detailed above. Then, build zig-zagging tunnels so that the hopping miners can approach from both sides and fully demolish the mineral node.
How do I create an endless loop in Micro Miners?
This is perhaps the trickiest maneuver to master in the game. You'll need a space with a platform in it somewhere, as well as the hopping miners. If you want them to keep passing around this loop, making an unclimbable notch on the side that doesn't have a wall. They'll turn around, head back towards the wall, then keep hopping onto your platform in an endless loop.
