Windows 8 mobile, tablet & PC twin-stick shooter coming next month.

343 Industries has announced today that a new Halo game, titled Halo: Spartan Assault, will be released for Windows 8 mobiles, tablets and PCs. A specific launch date has yet to be confirmed, but the game is expected to be released in July of this year.

Halo: Spartan Assault is a twin-stick shooter comprised of around 25 missions. Players will take charge of a Spartan warrior fighting against enemies across a wide variety of mission types, from search-and-destroy, to convoy protection and survival challenges.

The touchscreen edition of the game game will feature adaptive controls, so if your thumbs move from their initial starting point, the game will detect these changes and allow you to continue playing wherever your hands happen to have moved to.

While this particular game has abandoned Halo's first-person shooter roots, 343 Industries is promising an authentic Halo experience, with sandbox gameplay, fan-favorite and all new weapons, and use of the game's legendary land vehicles.
