Second screen experience, anyone?
Just as Microsoft has done with its Smartglass for Xbox 360 and the upcoming Xbox One, Sony will enter the mobile app business.
The company announced at Tokyo Game Show this week that it will launch a PlayStation app for the Android market this November, the same month that it will release its PlayStation 4 gaming console worldwide.
With the app, players will be able to use a number of functions. With select software, the tablet or smartphone serves as a secondary controller, and can also provide a second screen gaming experience. You'll also be able to navigate through the PlayStation Network, seeing what new games have been released and downloading content to your PlayStation 4.
There's no word yet on a release date or games that will support the app, but we'll have more information soon.
