Dig a little deeper with our handy pocket-sized guide to the game.
Pocket Mine's a very addictive quick-fire excavation game, where you tap on tiles to keep a clear path ahead, then scoop up all the precious minerals so you can upgrade your mighty pickaxe. Here are some useful hints and tips to help you get through the early days.
How quickly should I dig in Pocket Mine?
If you get left too far behind, you'll eventually lose the game and have to start all over again. That doesn't mean you should tap away furiously at the earliest opportunity though. Let the screen scroll a little so you can see what's coming up - and which paths will make your pickaxe go a little further.
How can I make my pickaxe last longer in Pocket Mine?
The only way to make your pickaxe last longer in Pocket Mine is to upgrade it - something you can start doing at Level 2 by spending some of the cash you've acquired. It's always worth investing money here though, as the longer you last, the more cash you acquire for other upgrades!
How do I unlock new tile types in Pocket Mine?
If you want to access new tile opportunities in Pocket Mine, you'll need to continue playing until you've leveled up - and yes that will mean plenty of deaths along the way. The good news is that you'll last longer in the depths the more powerful you become. The game becomes much more satisfying (and frantic!) at that point.
How do I create a candle in Pocket Mine?
Looking to shed a little light on proceedings? Very occasionally, making a tap against one of the tiles will cause a candle to appear. These will help illuminate the path ahead, and make it easier to dig a little deeper.
How can I make more money in Pocket Mine?
First of all, make sure you minimize how many dirt tiles you tap, and concentrate on the juicy resource tiles wherever possible. Secondly, avoid using boosters in the early days - they're a complete waste of cash until you have a mighty pickaxe that will last long enough for you to get the maximum worth out of them.
How can I speed the gameplay up in Pocket Mine?
Once you've mastered the game, you may find the default speed just a little too slow to be satisfying. There's a game speed option in the menu setting which you can change to increase the pace. We really don't recommend increasing the game speed until you know what you're doing though!
How do I challenge a friend in Pocket Mine?
If your iOS device is online, you'll be able to challenge a friend to dig deeper than you in the game. Watch out for the portrait icons when you start an excavation. If you tap on these icons, you'll be told which of your friends it represents, and give you the chance to challenge them.
