PSP Manga Downloads a Hit in Japan

The handheld's many uses seem endless...

Seven Seas Entertainment, the first manga publisher to release free downloadable manga content for the Sony PSP, has announced today that they have seen an incredible response from PSP owners in Japan. A first preview of the manga formatted specifically for Sony's PSP was made available last week, with 12,000 downloads recorded to have been made from the company's website, Gomanga.com.

"This is only the beginning," says Seven Seas President Jason DeAngelis. "We've discovered that the Sony PSP is a great, innovative way to reach manga fans, and the fact that we're still a small company with flexibility means that we're able to work fast to provide original, free content for PSP users."

PSP owners in Japan were able to download the first chapters of four flagship Seven Seas titles in their entirety. Amazing Agent Luna, Blade for Barter, Last Hope, and No Man's Land could all be read in preview form via the PSP's photo viewer free of charge.
