Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix
Activision and Shaba Studios team up to bring the World Destruction Tour to the Sony PSP, and we get hands-on with it here!
Team Hawk and Team Bam are leaving a path of destruction as they make the jump from console to PSP later this month in Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix. This is as close to a direct console port that you can get, and even adds a few PSP-only exclusives that take full advantage of the new portable hardware.
Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and friends are making yet another appearance on what could be the new king of the handheld skate park. THUG 2 Remix is a direct port and then some, starting with an all new world map and level branching system. Now, instead of just scrolling through the menu to choose your destination, there is a top-down view of the world map with each open level indicated by a star.
Also, for each level that is completed, two new levels are opened up to take you on a trip around the THUG 2 Remix world. But that's not all because there are new levels including Las Vegas, Atlanta, Kyoto, and Santa Cruz. There are also level-changing events exclusive to the PSP version to explore, grind, crash, fall, jump, and slide through.
At first look, the game looks excellent for being on a screen smaller than your TV. The colors and the PSP backlight make this game shine with spectacular graphics and a full 3D gaming experience.
For those familiar with the series, please take note that the controls had to be adjusted because the PSP doesn't have the L2 and R2 buttons like the PS2 controller. With that aside, the controls are very smooth and responsive in allowing for some serious combos and a great balancing act. Oh, and everyone's favorite warehouse level provides the training ground in Remix!
You can also get your Wi-Fi game on with up to three friends in over ten multiplayer modes like Combo Mambo, SLAP, and Scavenger Hunt with the PSP wireless network capabilities. There's the all-new team play where you can play as yourself, a pro teammate, or one of over 25 special guests or hidden skaters on Team Hawk or Team Bam and wreak havoc on the World Destruction Tour.
THUG 2 Remix has unparalleled customization where you can create your own logo for graffiti tags with the all new Create-a-Graphic feature in addition to creating your own skaters, skate parks, decks, tricks, and goals. And for the ultimate in customization, how about the ability to put your own face in the game. Yes, it's true - you can import your picture with the Sony memory stick and map your face to create the true you in THUG 2 Remix. Now how cool is that?
Get ready for Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix to be one of the top PSP launch titles coming out this month.
