Project X Zone 2 Officially Announced for 3DS
One of the most intriguing parts of the 3DS library had to be Project X Zone, a strategy RPG mashup filled to the brim with Capcom characters and properties as well as favorite Bandai Namco personalities. It proved you didn't have to go to great lengths to create an interesting title that combines the characters and video game elements of another company completely. And Project X Zone satisfied the wants and wishes of fans all over the globe who just wanted to see Ulala of Space Channel 5 and Ryu from Street Fighter work together to take care of common goals.
Project X Zone didn't exactly seem like the type of game that audiences beyond niche gamers would flock to, but apparently it did quite well - well enough, in fact, to merit Project X Zone 2, a brand new collaboration between Bandai Namco, Sega, and Capcom, due out this fall in Japan. Surprisingly, we'll also be seeing a North American release once more, despite the niche nature of the content within. While the North American version won't be retaining the Brave New World subtitle of the new release, it'll feature a wealth of new characters and plenty of things to check out, including familiar faces from games like the Tales series, Sakura Wars, Devil May Cry, Tekken, Mega Man X, Virtua Fighter, Shinobi, Strider, Soul Calibur, Resident Evil, Yakuza, .hack, and more.
We've not yet got a decent glance of it just yet, but the official English trailer at least shows off some of the faces we'll be seeing. If it's anything like the original game, it'll expand on fan-favorite characters' personalities and affinities with others. It should be a pretty cool sight indeed, especially since crossovers of this magnitude are a rare thing these days due to licensing snafus and the fact that some companies just plain don't like each other.
