Spotify iOS App Will Add New Features and Video, Podcasts
Still all the same music, but extra stuff to mess with!
If you're anything like me, you use Spotify for a good portion of your music streaming needs. The mobile app does a decent version of translating the popular desktop version for an on-the-go experience, but earlier this week Spotify announced some new augments for the app that could change the entire game. Seriously.
Not only is Spotify planning on adding videos, podcast, and other types of curated media content, but the "Now" start page and Spotify Running features are headed to the free app as well. 9to5Mac's first screenshots show the new modes off quite well.
The Now start page is meant to learn from your evolving tastes in music and will offer recommendations based on what you enjoy listening to and what you're currently feeling. Spotify Running will select songs for you based on the tempo of your run if you decide to take the app with you out on a jog for your daily exercise.
Spotify as we know it isn't changing, per se, but it's adding a number of new items that should make it a snap to choose it over other music services. At least, right now it seems like the best deal, until Apple releases its very own answer to Spotify, which should be coming in the very near future. Right now, keep on shuffling through songs on the Radio. Every song isn't exactly a keeper sometimes. We know.
