Should You Play It? Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions
You bet your sweet geometrical shapes you should.
Mobile gamers have long been envious of the swath of excellent games released for console that would make perfect sense as handheld games, but for some reason were just never released as such, either due to licensing or branding issues. Sometimes awesome things happen though, like Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions. It's very unexpectedly made its way to iOS users and it's available for you to enjoy right now! But should you buy it? Is it worth all the fanfare?
As the answer invariably seems to be since the inception of this feature, the answer is yes. But why should you play it? What is it, exactly? For the uninitiated (or those who don't own any game consoles) Geometry Wars is a franchise built around the twin-stick shooter premise with some of the most addictive gameplay elements this side of Flappy Bird. Oh, and it's absolutely gorgeous. Though the series got its start back on Xbox Live Arcade in 2005, it's grown leaps and bounds since then into something completely different and even more awesome than before.
You control a small ship in a sea of oncoming enemies -- all geometric shapes, to be exact, hence the name. You'll dodge and weave through hundreds of enemies at once. Think Resogun with shapes, but in a much wider playing field eschewing any side-scrolling elements. There are plenty of different game modes beyond simply just shooting everything you see, however, and that's part of what makes the game so much fun. Dimensions adds just that to things -- dimensions, so you might be traversing an entire globe or other three-dimensional shapes.
It's well worth your time, especially if you loved games like Super Stardust HD. With several challenges, fantastic graphics, and plenty to do long after you feel you've bested the game, this is a great mobile investment, even if you've played it on consoles.
