Sega Announces Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice
A brand new entry for the Sonic franchise.
After what could only be referred to as a very lackluster release for the previous titles in the Sonic Boom series, Sega has announced a brand new addition to its flagship mascot's franchise: Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, exclusively for 3DS.
Sanzaru Games takes the driver's seat with a single-player adventure that involves several different components of the canon Sonic Boom universe. Sonic and friends will face off aginst Dr. Eggman and a new enemy known as D-Fekt.
Like the name implies, there will be a heavy emphasis on fire and ice elements, with levels that focus more on speed and platforming elements and others that allow players to slow down and spend more time puzzling things out.
This iteration will feature something new to the game series, however, in the form of Bot Racing, where players can play with others or fly solo with special character-themed bots to complete special tracks and courses.
Hopefully this version of Sonic won't crash and burn, as it sounds like it has a decent amount of content to offer both longtime players and younger players just jumping on the Sonic bandwagon.
