First-Print Dragon Quest VIII Buyers In Japan Get A Special Treat
It's not tangible, but it's pretty awesome regardless!
With Dragon Quest VIII having all but been confirmed for a Western release, it's time to get a little jealous of our Japanese friends who'll be getting the game a lot sooner than us. Not only do they get the game quicker, but anyone who orders a first-print copy of Dragon Quest VIII in Japan will also get something very special with their purchase.
The lucky buyers who get first-print copies will also receive a code with which they can download the sword of the original hero from the first Dragon Quest game. It's illustrated in the above image in familiar Akira Toriyama style, and will likely look splendid in-game with the graphics engine.
There aren't any details on whether or not the sword will be imbued with any special abilities, but perhaps it'll only be usable in certain areas or assigned during specific points of the game. Whatever the case is, it's a neat extra and one I hope we see with the eventual Western release, especially since the original Dragon Quest remains a classic to this day, and you can't beat a classic.
