First Look: Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: The Genie & the Amp
Rocking the worlds of DS owners this summer
Ever wanted to travel through a musical-themed history with Ami and Yumi on the Nintendo DS? Well now you can, and here's our first look at D3 Publishing's crazy looking Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: The Genie & the Amp.
Alright, so check it out: the girls are way behind in the recording of their new album because they've tripped over a massive writer's block. Like massive with a capital "Assive". Their overly-demanding manager has locked them up in a studio until they finish their recording, so it's up to the girls to really buckle down and get to the business.
In shear frustration, Ami and Yumi knock over an old, dusty amplifier, revealing the most ass-kickingest, rock n' roll genie they've ever seen. Now with the help of their newfound spiritual compadre, the girls embark on a journey through musical history, hoping to finally discover the inspiration they need to create the perfect rock tune.
The game will feature 10 different musical locales, and will have players taking control of either Ami or Yumi, utilizing each of their unique skill sets to overcome a variety of puzzles, enemies, and other obstacles. You can switch between touch screen control and a more traditional button method, and play either solo or co-operatively with a friend.
Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: The Genie & the Amp for the Nintendo DS is expected to arrive in retailers sometime this June. As always, expect a full report from us when it drops.
