Star Wars Lightsaber Combat
Good idea, too bad it's "forced". HAHA! Get it? Forced. Oh, shut up.
While playing Star Wars Lightsaber Combat for my cell phone, I kind of noticed that the game reminded me of the old PlayStation brawling game Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi. Like that game before it, the emphasis is on action. And, sadly, like that game before it, something is very, very wrong that prevents you from fully enjoying it.
Throughout the game, you fight the evil Darth Maul through a series of lightsaber battles, each one growing more complicated than the last. Your hero packs an arsenal of moves, but the main problem lies in the game's befuddled execution. It runs mostly slow and half the time you're pulling off special moves by accident. If THQ had somehow tightened this up, and given us some more accuracy with the lightsaber, we'd be truly getting somewhere.
But the game gets nowhere fast. The graphics are colorful enough and have great detail, but the presentation gets knocked down by terrible sound issues. Even the theme song is done poorly. If you really must do some lightsaber dueling, go get yourself some toy lightsabers and take on your brother in the backyard. It's better than this.
What's Hot: Promising idea; decent graphics.
What's Not: Unfocused gameplay; horrible sound.
