The Latest Apple TV Model Is Also A Gaming Console
It's been an eventful day for Apple fans, with new product announcements, games, plans, and more. One of the biggest items showcased today was the Apple TV and its having been recast as a gaming machine. The new Apple TV with App Store features Siri integration as well as a brand new remote with touchpad and microphone. What's more, it'll feature motion controls and a whole set of new games from established developers. In short, whoa.
The new iOS will be called tvOS, and it will allow players to start a game on a mobile device and continue on the Apple TV. A whole treasure trove of console-quality games are slated for the device, and it's clear Apple wants to make this one to watch for the fall and holiday season. You can access the same App Store between Apple TV and other devices, and it'll feature the Apple TV remote, which uses Bluetooth to connect to the device.
Developers like Hipster Whale and Harmonix are already showing off games for the new console, such as a new version of Crossy Road with a multiplayer slant and a brand new game called Beat Sports from Harmonix, which will feature rhythm-based sports games for friends and family to play together.
The new Apple TV comes in both 32 and 64 GB models and is slated for release this October as it finally makes an evolutionary leap into a real life gaming console.
