Konami States It Will No Longer Focus On Triple-A Titles
The company backpedaled and then came forward once more. Which is the truth?
Remember the first time Konami spoke out and made waves with its statement that denounced triple-A gaming and announced the company would be focusing only on mobile? Then they backtracked and said something totally different? Yeah, that old game. Well, if you thought Konami was just backpedaling because of the fan backlash and was biding its time to give a more definitive announcement that we'd probably dislike more, you were absolutely right!
Konami has come forth and is now saying that the company will no longer produce any triple-A titles other than Metal Gear Online and Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. That means the company will be focusing solely on mobile titles, and that's great news for mobile gamers and Modojo readers, but it's also bad news for anyone who enjoyed Konami's triple-A titles like Silent Hill, et al. So it looks like we'll only be seeing titles coming to mobile devices and/or handhelds (that's not immediately clear at the moment) in the future. Hopefully this isn't the final word on the subject and we'll hear something different on the matter in the coming days.
