BioShock Has Been Completely Removed From The App Store
Well, it's happened again. Yet another game has been removed from the App Store, and this time it's a fairly big and popular title: BioShock. Of course, it's not that it's just been quietly yanked and pulled out of sight this time. It's actually been delisted, almost as if it were being erased from the public's eye. And why? No one, not even the eagle-eyed folks at TouchArcade, who reported on the story, knows. It's a bizarre story to be sure, made even weirder by the fact that there was zero fanfare accompanying the delisting. Hopefully this isn't going to be a trend going forward.
Unfortunately, it's a very real risk as we head into a digital future, where the items we purchase aren't exactly "ours" anymore since the creator and/or publisher can take them out of our sight and grasp forever if they choose to, much like with the furor over Flappy Bird so long ago and the recent removal of several EA titles. Maybe the game is coming back with a vengeance. Maybe it's gone for a reason. A little explanation would be appreciated though, especially considering the fanfare that surrounded the game's mobile release. It's not just a virtual good that should be swept under a rug. People played and enjoyed it (and still do!) so why is it mysteriously MIA now? Only time will tell.
