Beware of Monsters In Dragon Quest Builders
Minecraft it up in the newest game, but watch out for Slimes.
Dragon Quest Builders is looking very promising, featuring plenty of reasons to return to the franchise even if you've played all the main story entries and spinoffs. Square Enix has released some additional information regarding the series that shines some new light on the game as well, including some new screenshots.
This block-making RPG features items that can be made using every item that you see, broken down into raw materials. You have to collect materials if you want to build things, which you'll do by breaking things or finishing off monsters. You can combine several items to make new ones, and then you can, like in games like Minecraft, begin building dwellings, buildings, and other items that you'll need to make your town a success. You'll have to worry about monsters appearing though, which you'll have to fight off in order to keep your creations safe.
You'll find several monsters you saw in Dragon Quest I, like Slimes of course, and other familiar monster faces. If you don't keep them at bay your efforts to create something new and impressive will be thwarted time after time.
The game is launching on January 28 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 3. Hopefully it'll be receiving a Western release in the near future as well.
