Say Hello To The New Nintendo Accounts
No Club Nintendo? No problem!
Along with the announcement of Miitomo, Nintendo is planning on introducing a new account system that will finally allow users to link together Nintendo accounts and allow logins with Facebook, Google, Twitter, or simply email and password. Nintendo Network IDs will be allowed as well, but this is huge news for anyone who's had trouble managing digital content from the brand in the past.
Like the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, you'll be able to view a digital catalog online, set things to download, and they'll automatically queue and download on your Wii U and 3DS. This will streamline things in a massive way, especially since for the longest time Nintendo's greatest downfall with online management was content management, digital organization, and the ability to have one united account across systems.
In addition to the new account program, there will be a bonus program that will emulate Club Nintendo. You can earn points by purchasing and playing games, which can then be used on smartphones and game systems. It will eventually allow for users to store character, game save, and other data in the cloud system.
It's going to be a whole new ballgame for Nintendo's online services, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. It'll be interesting to see where things go from here when My Nintendo finally launches. At long last!
