Sony Will Be Focusing On Bringing More IPs to Mobile Devices
But they're not focusing on the Vita so much, it appears.
It looks like Nintendo isn't the only brand that's dedicated to really making a splash when it comes to mobile devices. Sony appears to be working toward doing just that very soon with the announcement of ForwardWorks, a company that's aiming to "leverage the intellectual property of the numerous PlayStation dedicated software titles and its gaming characters" for mobile devices like iOS and Android. That's pretty big news!
Sony previously attempted to do all this before with PlayStation Mobile, but it was shut down last year. It looks like rather than focusing on the Vita, which has all but been left for dead, Sony is keen to instead look forward into the future as far as mobile devices are concerned, bringing real IPs to mobile so players can "casually enjoy full-fledged game titles in the new field of the smart device market."
Japan and Asia will receive the games first of course, but these games will be making their way to the west. It'll be interesting to see which games actually make the cut and what kind of details we can squeeze out of them going forward. Hopefully this means some previously unreleased titles will receive English releases in the future.
