Miitomo Tips and Tricks
Miitomo is one of Nintendo's crowning achievements, at least when it comes to the mobile space. It might be a little stranger than the type of games you're used to, but it's oh so worth picking up and playing. If you enjoyed Tomodachi Life, or you like to mess about with Miis, Miitomo Life is definitely an app you'll want to ensure is installed on your phone. It's more than a social tool. It's one of the best ways Nintendo has decided to marry social networking with the fun of video games, and I'm excited about its future. But if you're not so sure what it's all about, you might want to take a look at these tips and tricks. You don't want to miss out on the early life cycle of what will inevitably become an important part of the Nintendo mobile brand!
What is Miitomo? This is a bit harder to answer than you might think, but it's a game and an app. Basically, you add your friends, ask and answer questions within the app, and share your feelings and thoughts on certain topics a la Tomodachi Life. All of this is conducted via your personal Mii that you outfit and personalize as you see fit. You can earn new clothes, prizes, and other items via special games as well as secrets about your friends that you may never have known otherwise. It's an interesting amalgam of toy, app, and social experiment, and it's definitely worth trying out.
Make plenty of friends
If you've got a lot of friends online, it's inevitable that you're going to have a lot more things to do on Miitomo than others. The more friends you add (via Twitter, Facebook, or face-to-face, bizarrely) the more chances you have to find out new information about friends, which equates to more coins and opportunities for you to answer questions, which is the whole point of the app. You'll also earn coins based on the number of friends you have in-game. 20 friends gets you 10 game tickets, for example, and you get bonuses for the more friends you add. It's worth it to add people you might not know too so you can learn more about them, but only if you're comfortable sharing information about yourself as well.
Log in every day to maximize your bonuses
Miitomo is all about participation, so if you're planning on seeing everything it has to offer and more, as well as collecting fashion items, you'll want to make sure you sign in at least once a day to capitalize on all the cool stuff you can get for free. You can participate in the "Everybody Answers" events, which gives you platinum points for your My Nintendo account too, so make sure you check every day for a special Nintendo bubble that will offer you a special cache of items. You'll want to use Platinum Points, for sure, as you can get special items from Nintendo by using them.
Use play tickets to play the Miitomo Drop game instead of coins
You can earn play tickets very easily through normal Miitomo play, and they allow you to play Miitomo Drop, a special drop game that finds you dropping your Mii onto a pinball platform in order to win prizes, pieces of clothing, coins, and more. You can either spend 500 coins to earn one play through, and then you drop your Mii down a Pachinko-like board until he or she falls into the pit of a prize, or one of three consolation prizes at the bottom of the screen, like coins or additional game tickets. If you play your cards right you can just keep earning tickets for additional plays indefinitely, and this'll help you to earn more Style Icon rewards by changing clothes often. You can also grab exclusive items that won't be available in the Shop this way.
