Gizmondo Released in UK

The "other" new handheld is now available overseas...

On March 19th, Tiger Telematics Inc. launched their portable gaming and multimedia device, Gizmondo, in the UK. The Gizmondo's official site reported briefly about the device's release at the Gizmondo store at 175 Regent Street in London:

"The shop's chill out zones quickly filled with laptop users taking advantage of the shop's free WiFi coverage, and the countless demo pods were in heavy usage, as old and young got their hands on a working Gizmondo for the very first time.

The shop staff looked dapper in their tailor-made Ozwald Boateng suits, while the on-location DJ proved that the store's decks were in full working order."

Priced at 229 pounds, the Gizmondo comes with a battery and charger, a USB cable, a pair of headphones, driver software, along with a SD card with demos of games, movies, and music. The Gizmondo is also capable of sending text messages, email, and includes a GPS navigational system, among other features.

The games themselves are priced between 9.99 and 29.99 pounds, which include titles such as: Conflict: Vietnam, Conflict: Desert Storm, Richard Burns Rally, and more than a dozen others.
