Nintendo DS Hits 21 Million
Nintendo's handheld enjoys its worldwide success
Nintendo has revealed today that, in less than two years time, its DS portable system has sold more than 21 million units worldwide since the November 21, 2004 launch day.
The company commends its success to the mass appeal of the unique handheld system, with titles like Nintendogs for the youngins, and Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day for the older audiences.
The release of the new DS Lite version of the system created a rather considerable boost in sales for the month of June, making it the highest selling video game system of any kind during that time.
Software sales for the Nintendo DS total more than 78 million worldwide, with over 15 million of that contributed to U.S. sales. More than 130 titles are presently available on the DS, with an added 880 games from the Game Boy Advance backwards compatibility.
