Etrian Odyssey Revealed
Atlus brings the DS RPG stateside
Atlus U.S.A. announced today that it has acquired the North American publishing rights to Etrian Odyssey for the Nintendo DS.
The Japanese RPG, originally known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu, was directed by Kazuya Niinou (Trauma Center: Under the Knife), with story design by Shigeo Komori (Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner) and sound design by Yuzo Koshiro (Actraiser, Streets of Rage).
Assuming the role of a young adventurer, players are given the choice of nine character classes, including a dark hunter, a medic, a warlock, and more. As an adventuring party of five characters, you set out to explore a vast labyrinth, riddled with treasures and all sorts of nasty enemies.
With a turn-based strategic combat system, characters can progress by collecting various battle skills. Players can also make their own maps by using the touch screen to draw walls and place icons to note special events.
Etrian Odyssey is currently scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2007.
