Do you have a passion for handhelds, writing, and evil, heartless robots? Then you should consider joining the Modojo team!
Modojo is looking for some fresh new faces to fill in a couple gaps in its editorial team. Things are very exciting here at Mo-town. We recently formed a relationship with games industry website Gamasutra to power their mobile content, and are working hard to get Modojo stories in front of many other large audiences as well. Modojo 3.0 went live a couple weeks ago, and the new look & new features have generated a tremendous amount of positive buzz.
Benefits of joining the Modojo team include:
-Entrance to industry-only events including GDC, BREW, CTIA, and other trade shows.
-Occasional free PSP, DS, & GBA games for members of the review/preview team.
-An opportunity for beginning writers to get their foot in the door, with no previous experience required.
-An opportunity for aspiring writers to develop a body of work, get their name in front of thousands of readers, and work with a team of writers, samurais, belligerent robots, and gelato-loving dictators.
-Current writing positions are volunteer, although as Modojo grows we fully intend to expand our paid editorial ranks.
Modojo is currently hiring for the following positions:
Features (Reviews & Previews) Team (2)
Have strong opinions about the games you play? Does the idea of writing 750 or more words describing a single game sound more like fun than a chore? Have a desire to break out of the typical "news/preview/review" editorial cycle? The the features team might be for you.
News Team (1)
"Just the facts, Ma'am." The news team is looking for, well, a newshound. The type of gamer that is the first on their message boards to know what's going on, and visits multiple news sites daily.
"Professional" blogger (1)
The yin to the news team's yang, the Modojo blog covers handheld culture and not just strictly handheld news. Think about it as essentially "Motaku." Handheld gaming has a feeling and a pace unique to that of its console cousins, and we're looking for a blogger that is passionate about handhelds, and can speak to others as passionate as he (or she) is.
All interested applicants should send an email to email@example.com with the following:
-Why you want to contribute to Modojo.
-What position you're most interested in filling.
-What previous experience you have, if any. Previous writing experience is not a requirement.
-If you do have previous experience, please send a writing sample along in the body of the email.
-Some details about yourself. Age, location, hobbies, whether or not you like long walks on the beach, gelato, etc.
