Player X Receives $10M in Series B Funding
The funding is intended to give the London-based media company the leverage to expand globally...
Mobile media company Player X announced recently that it has raised $9.85 million Series B funding from new investors Nordic Venture Partners and Long Acre Partners as well as further investment from original investors Arts Alliance.
Player X, not specifically focused on mobile games, increased its gaming operation in 2006, and published mobile games based on the films Miami Vice and Wallace & Gromit, in addition to original IP, such as Family Fortunes and Blockbusters.
Nordic Ventures specifically singled out the company's early focus on mobile video as the primary driver of their investment. "We met with many mobile content companies but what excited us about Player X was not only its impressive games business, but also its leadership in mobile video. We're confident the company will continue to make giant strides in both areas," Larry McDonald, Partner at Nordic Venture Partners said in a statement.
Player X saw early success with its geekTV mobile TV channel in the UK, and it was noted that this round of funding will specifically be used to increase the company's global presence.
