Trip Hawkins to Deliver GDC Mobile Keynote

CMP's Game Group announced today that Digital Chocolate CEO Trip Hawkins will be delivering GDC Mobile's Day One Keynote address. The presentation, entitled "Making Mobile Phones the Ultimate Game Platform," will address the belief that "mobile can be a first-rate platform that is the best in the world at some very important things, reaching back to why people play in the first place," according to the GDC website.
Hawkins is perhaps most widely known as founder of industry powerhouse Electronic Arts, and later as founder of 3DO. In 2004 Hawkins founded mobile game developer & publisher Digital Chocolate, and gave the company's creative efforts an emphasis on original IP and genre-bending experiences, instead of lining up licenses from other entertainment mediums.
Hawkins' address kicks off the GDC Mobile agenda, which is taking place Monday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 6 at the Moscone Convention Center North in San Francisco. Tuesday's Keynote address is being delivered by GDC Mobile Founding Chairman and PeopleJam President Robert Tercek.
"I am thrilled to have Trip Hawkins, a game industry legend kick-off GDC Mobile with such an important topic of discussion," Tercek said in a statement. "Trip will challenge the entire industry to rise from the lethargy of derivative products and safe bets to take advantage of the unique aspects of the wireless platform."
