Eidos Expands its Mobile Operation
Eidos Interactive (Tomb Raider, Hitman) announced today that it is looking to "actively increase the number of mobile games made available," primarily to support future console releases and develop "brand opportunities."
"We're supporting our (Eidos') console releases with mobile versions of the games like Tomb Raider: Legend, Hitman: Blood Money and Championship Manager, whilst also exploring other mobile opportunities with our IPs, " Simon Protheroe, New Media and IT Director of Eidos said in a statement.
"This way we can offer the consumer other ways to access their favorite games and games characters. So if you can't get enough of your favorite Eidos game on your console, then you can play the mobile version on your way to work."
Although Eidos New Media has dabbled in original mobile content (Prism: Light the Way, Balloon Headed Boy), the vast majority of the company's mobile offerings to date have been licensed from the company's console and PC IP.
Specific upcoming releases weren't given, nor were details of the mobile expansion. But Eidos did note that it has bolstered its mobile development team to realize its increased mobile ambition.
