New DS Colours Double Sales in Japan
Still no word on a North American release though...
According to Dengeki Online sales data, the Nintendo DS has seen a twofold increase in sales during the week of March 21 to 27 in Japan. Sales for the week were 54,000 units, compared to the previous week's sales of 21,000 units. This almost certainly has to do with the introduction of two new coloured DS models.
Graphite Black and Pure White were the two new models of the DS released on March 24, continuing Nintendo's history of providing a large variety of multi-coloured versions for their handheld video game systems in Japan.
The company also has plans to release two additional coloured models, Turquoise Blue and Candy Pink, on April 21. All DS models, specialty colour or not, remain at a price of 15,000 yen ($139).
Currently Nintendo has not announced any plans to release coloured DS models in the US. You can view the new coloured DS models by visiting the official site.
