Playphone Taps Ben Feingold for its Board of Directors
Digital Media Pioneer and Entertainment Industry Icon, Ben Feingold is Acknowledged as a Leading Architect of the Launch of the Original DVD Format
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Mar. 1, 2007 - PlayPhone, Inc., the pioneer of direct-to-consumer wireless distribution, has tapped entertainment industry executive and icon, Benjamin S. Feingold as the newest member of its board of directors. Feingold was one of the leading members of the worldwide launch team of the DVD format in conjunction with Sony, Toshiba and Warner Bros. He was also involved in setting specifications for the Blu Ray disc format and orchestrated all key Sony negotiations for digital downloading, including recent agreements with Amazon.com, AOL, WalMart.com, CinemaNow.com and discussions with Apple.
He most recently served as the president of Worldwide Home Entertainment, Digital Distribution and Acquisitions for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPE). During his 18-year career, Feingold also held other key executive positions within Sony including president of Business and Operations for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, president of Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment and senior vice president of Corporate Development.
Feingold was a co-recipient of the Video Software Dealers Association's 2000 Person of the Year Award for his pivotal role in the worldwide launch of the DVD format and recipient of the Video Business Hall of Fame Award in 2005.

Before joining SPE, Feingold was a corporate securities and mergers and acquisitions associate with the New York law firm, Kaye Scholer Fierman Hays & Handler. A magna cum laude graduate of Brandeis University, Feingold received his law degree at the Hastings College of Law, University of California and his Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics.
