I-Play Announces Two-for-One Deal Across Europe
I-Play announced today a new "European Value Strategy," which will see the company bundling casual games in two-for-one packages, under a new "Absolute" banner.
I-Play specifically singled out the bundling of Sudoku with the similar numbers-based puzzler Kokuro (or cross-sums). Other I-Play titles involved in the Absolute bundles include puzzle title Slyder, and virtual pet sim My Dog. The single download, which will house both games, is expected to retail for roughly 5 Euros.
"The rationale behind the 'Absolute' Value strategy is to drive further usage amongst the mass market and to drive the market overall. Our aim is to lower the cost barrier to first time gamers and repeat players alike. The introduction of bundles will serve to bring greater value to the consumer and incentivise them to play more than just one game to start building their own broader portfolio" David Gosen, CEO of I-play said in a statement.
Gosen expanded on this concept when talking with Modojo Biz last week. "Lots of people download one game onto their phone, like Sudoku or Tetris, and never consider getting another one a few weeks or months later," he explained. "This program is intended to help get consumers adjusted to the idea od having a library of games on their handset, instead of only buying one title to kill the time"
