Gumby Coming to GBA
The classic clay figure makes his mark on Nintendo's handheld...
Namco Hometek Inc. today announced a new forthcoming title for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance, called Gumby vs. the Astrobots. Developed by Torus Games, this side-scrolling platformer will feature classic Gumby clay animation style visuals with imaginative characters and storytelling.
Players will take control of Gumby as he travels throughout Toyland on a quest to save his friends from the menacing Astrobots, being used by the Blockheads. Hidden within various books, Gumby must brave through a variety of areas, such as the Old West, North Pole, and Planet Astrobot, in order to confront his enemies and free his pals Pokey, Prickle, and Goo.
Effective utilization of Gumby's special morphing powers and stretchy skills is needed in order to overcome various obstacles and challenges which lay in wait for the heroic clay figure. Voice and FX for the game will be taken straight out of the television series.
"With innovative clay animation style gameplay, a complete selection of beloved characters and an original storyline, Gumby vs. the Astrobots is the game Gumby fans have been waiting for," said Jeff Lujan, Business Director at Namco Hometek. "The game's release this August will commemorate Gumby's 50th anniversary and for the first time, give fans the chance to bend, twist and bounce like their favorite green friend in video game form."
Gumby vs. the Astrobots will be available at North American retailers sometime in August exclusively on the Game Boy Advance.
