Majesco Announces Cake Mania 2
Have your cake and eat it two
Got an itch to bake, but Cooking Mama not doing it for you? Well, Majesco's got a rolling pin ready for you, as a sequel to Cake Mania was just announced for the Nintendo DS. The first game in the series hit more than 50 million downloads on the PC and sold over 280, 000 units on the DS.
"We are continually inspired by the legions of fans of Cake Mania that simply can't get enough of Jill Evans and her baking adventures," said Daniel Bernstein, founder and CEO, Sandlot Games. "We're pleased to once again partner with Majesco Entertainment and Digital Embryo to provide the fans of Cake Mania 2 another way to flex their flour power on the Nintendo DS."
Majesco's Executive Vice President of Operations, Guy Karyo, seems to feel that the sequel will achieve similarly positive results. "Cake Mania's fast-paced, addictive gameplay has created a tremendous following of franchise fans," he said. "With a wide range of feature enhancements, Cake Mania 2 for the DS offers tremendous depth while retaining the same core gameplay mechanic that made the original a handheld success."
Cake Mania 2 plans to feature over 200 levels of "baking and frosting madness" (like some kind of edible asylum?) with players buying up to 50 different kitchen upgrades with their earnings and utilizing a number of new cake shapes, decorations and frosting flavors. All new customers will be featured, including aliens, federal agents, rock stars and grannies. Because even extraterrestrials and old ladies get the munchies sometimes. Players will also bake in a variety of new locales such as an underwater theme park and the far reaches of outer space, demonstrating that the way to peace and understanding in the universe is through its stomach.
Cake Mania 2 is expected to hit the DS sometime in the second quarter of 2008 with details of a Wii version of the first game being made available as time progresses.
