Taito Releases Flash-Based Exit DS Demo
Exit DS, a port of the innovative side-scrolling puzzle game of the same name, has just gotten its own flash demo on the PC. The demo isn't necessarily reflective of the final product, though, since the control scheme has been altered to function using a standard mouse. It definitely feels more cumbersome than using a d-pad or even the DS stylus, since you have to click Mr. ESC first before you can do anything. Some sort of keyboard-based movement would've made things a lot more intuitive.
The gameplay still holds up relatively well though, and the game's unique sense of style is definitely present and accounted for. After all this time, I still can't believe how ill-suited Mr. ESC's voice is for him. The guy looks like he should sound like David Caruso or at least Viewtiful Joe, but instead, we get someone who sounds like he just finished recording a House of the Dead game.
Exit DS will be available in Japan on January 24, 2008. No word on a domestic release date yet.
