Boom Blox Revealed for Nintendo Wii and Mobile Phones
Here comes the Boom!
EA's Casual Entertainment Label officially revealed Boom Blox today.
Developed in collaboration by EA and Steven Spielberg, Boom Blox is a physics-based puzzle game that involves the collapsing of blocks. Remember how fun was it to build and destroy your legos and sand castles? Well, this is what Boom Blox does best.
"My inspiration for this game came while I was playing the Wii for the first time," added Spielberg. "From the initial concept to what the game is today, it's always been built around the innovations the Wii brings to playing games. BOOM BLOX plays on the enjoyment of building and knocking down blocks, something that can appeal innately to kids and adults of all ages."
The Wii version will have more than 300 preloaded levels. In addition, Boom Blox also has co-op, versus and create-a-level (sharable with WiiConnect24) modes. Boom Blox for the Nintendo Wii will be available in May 2008.
In the mobile version, you can also create and share custom levels. Instead of having to enable WiiConnect24, you can share levels directly from your cell phone. The mobile version will launch in spring.
In my opinion, Boom Blox is one of the most innovative games to come out in recent years. Ironically, it is being developed by Electronic Arts.
