Smart Adds-Enabled Gizmondo Announced
Advertisements in Exchange for a Lower Price
Tiger Telematics Inc. announced today an introduction of a new "Smart Adds" model of their Gizmondo portable multimedia device. The Smart Adds enabled Gizmondo (only available in Europe at present time) will still posses all the attributes of the standard Gizmondo (gaming, music, movies, GPS navigation, and messaging), but will come with an added value service priced at 129 pounds.
The Smart Adds Gizmondo features advertisements delivered wirelessly into the handheld, allowing for a new way for companies to promote their product. No more than three ads per day will be sent to the Gizmondo, and all will be self-deleting. Each advertisement will be targeted at the user's interest and will feature benefits such as free music downloads.
Head of Smart Adds Peter Lilley commented, "Imagine the emotional power of TV combined with the accountability of direct marketing, the accuracy of direct mail and the mobile interactivity of SMS; that's what a Smart Add is. A Smart Adds-enabled Gizmondo is effectively being subsidized by the marketing budgets of major youth and product brands in return for showing the consumer their latest ads. The brands will have to be relevant and interesting to our demographic to be allowed on Smart Adds, and we believe they in turn will look forward to receiving them."
The Smart Adds Gizmondo will be released in a standard and value pack (the latter will retail at 199 pounds and includes Hifi stereo headphones instead of the earbuds, a recordable 128MB recordable SD card containing demos of games, films and music).
