Gamevil Relaunches Path of a Warrior: Imperial Blood in the US
Grind on the go.
LA-based games publisher, Gamevil, announced today that it has re-released Path of a Warrior: Imperial Blood for the mobile platform.
It's a massively multiplayer roleplaying hack and slash game that has players fighting in a civil war after the death of an emperor. It features support for multiple players and utilizes a 2D overhead perspective to create a decidely old-school look and feel (think Blood Omen on the playstation for a similar aesthetic). The attack and spell animations are also very reminscent of Japanese beat-em-ups from the 16-bit era, which can probably be attributed to the game's asian development roots.
Players will be able to build their characters up offline, then transfer them to the online environment where they can compete in a number of duels or missions alone or in teams of two.
"We wanted to take mobile gaming to the next level with networked game play and further enhance the player's experience." said Stephanie Huang, Marketing Manager of GAMEVIL USA, Inc. "It's surprising that there's not that many mobile games already out there that utilize that kind of multiplayer technology. The option for users to play with their friends makes mobile gaming even more enjoyable, and we wanted to give our players that experience with the multiplayer feature in Path of a Warrior: Imperial Blood."
The game was already released about a year ago, and reviews, in general, praised it for its ambition but lamented the lack of many of the more engaging social and cooperative elements from the Korean version. I'm assuming this incarnation is a little more "complete".
