Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship Ships for PSP
Majeseco has shipped Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship for the PSP.
For those unfamiliar with the board game, the basic premise of Blockus is to place Tetris-like blocks onto the playing grid. The first piece must be placed on one of the four corners of the grid. Every piece you placed afterwards must touch corners, but not sides, with your other pieces. The game ends when all players are unable to place any more pieces. The winner is the person who has the least number of pieces left on hand.
"The PSP system version of Blokus captures the same exciting strategic play that has helped its board game counterparts build a worldwide fan base of three million players," said Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations, Majesco. "We think the consumer-friendly price point coupled with the award-winning board game content is a perfect mix of value and addictive gameplay."
The PSP version will feature 18 characters from the extremely-overlooked Steambot Chronicles (known in Japan as Bumpy Trot) series. Up to 16 players can play via the ad-hoc wireless mode with game-sharing for up to four players per UMD copy of the game.
Unfortunately for Steambot Chronicles fans, it seems that there is not much more beyond the unlockable characters. For just $19.99, however, Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship seems like a nice little puzzle game that won't break your bank.
