NPD: PSP and Playstation Brand Sees Great Sales in February
2008 is proving to be a great year for Sony. February was another killer month for the Playstation family.
The PSP saw an increase of 38% in hardware sales from last February, selling a total of 243,115 units. Meanwhile, the Playstation 3 out sold the Xbox 360 for the second month in a row with 280,841 units sold. To top it all off, the Playstation 2 just refuses to die with an incredible 351,787 units sold during the month. Makes you wonder if the Playstation 2 can outlast both the PSP and Playstation 3.
Together, the Playstation brand generated the most revenue in terms of hardware and software sales for the second straight month. Not as impressive as you think considering Sony has three main systems currently in the market. But a victory is a victory.
The numbers for next month should be interesting for the PSP, to say the least. Not one but two potential system sellers, God of War: Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, will be released in March. Maybe we will finally see a PSP game in the top ten?
