Kingdom Hearts: Unchained Chi Tips and Tricks
Get the most out of the latest Kingdom Hearts game!
If you're a Kingdom Hearts fan, there's no doubt you're excited for the upcoming entries in the series. You've got Kingdom Hearts: Unchained Chi to tide you over for now, and it's almost like the original games enough for you to glean some satisfaction. But you really need some additional hints and strategies if you're going to get the most out of the game, especially since you need upgrades and bonuses to keep you at the top of your game. Try these strategies on for size the next time you need to upgrade your Keyblade or need more Lux.
Make sure to investigate all Pixie Dust
Your keyblade is tantamount to your success in Kingdom Hearts: Unchained Chi. It's always going to be a good idea for you to upgrade it as often as you can. You can go into the menu and press your Keyblade LV up button each time you want to perform an upgrade, which will prompt the "Strengthen" button to appear. If you get it, you can go ahead and do an upgrade. If not, it'll be grayed out and you probably need additional materials. You can collect materials through little pixie dust caches all over the map. When you get close to them, you need to unlock them. You don't need to fight off any enemies who happen to be possibly guarding the pixie dusts, but if they do happen to get in the way go ahead and do it so you can collect as many materials as possible. Upgrading your keyblade is extremely important, so sometimes it's worth it to dispatch a few enemies if you've got to.
Don't be afraid of the grind to get ahead
You might want to avoid enemies from time to time, but going back and forth to take out weaker enemies that can't hold a candle to the more powerful ones is still a great idea. If you can find enemies with special glowing icons, you should target those first. This means their attributes are generally weaker than your own hero's and you've got a better shot at taking them out. You can destroy them before it becomes their turn and soak up Lux as well as attack prizes.
Rely on special attacks when necessary
This doesn't mean spam them as soon as you can on lowly enemies that don't take any sort of talent to fell. Save them up and unleash them on enemies that you actually need help killing off. This way you can save a gauge that's been completely filled for a fight that's going to require extra help. If you can kill off a boss or miniboss before their turn, you'll get an objective completed, which offers up special rewards. And with extra items, that brings more opportunities for extra upgrades.
Be choosy with what avatar board nodes you unlock
When you earn avatar coins by progressing through the game and completing objectives, you'll be able to use them to unlock special nodes on the avatar board. You can access them via the menu. Only tap the nodes that require zero jewels to open up, because you'll be wasting good coins on those that require jewels - ignore those for now. Similarly, don't unlock accessories via the avatar board. They're relatively useless in the scheme of things, when you could use avatar coins to unlock helpful augments.
