iOS 10 is out now, here are three tips and hidden features you should know about!
The latest operating system for Apple’s smartphone lineup is here, which means it is time to take a look at some hidden tips and features you might now know about. We’ve lined up three of our favorites, and some of the most useful we’ve come across. This guide will outline those features, so keep reading to find out more!
Re-enable Touch to Unlock
If you aren’t a fan of having to physically press the Home Button to unlock your iPhone, then you can easily switch back to Touch to Unlock feature seen in previous iOS versions. To do this, simply navigate to your iOS Settings option, then locate the General tab, and select Accessibility. From here locate the Home Button tab and choose the Rest Finger to Open option. Choosing this option will re-enable Touch to Unlock, allowing you to unlock your iPhone like you’re used to.
Use Siri to Find Photos
A new feature we especially love about the new iOS is Siri’s ability to search for and locate photographs based on time frame, location, and date. To do this you’ll simply need to press the Home Button and launch Siri, at which point you can kindly ask her to bring up ‘photos from March 3’ or ‘show me photos from Alaska’. When asked to do this, Siri will search your photos and bring up any of the photos that are associated with the time, place, or date that you asked for. It’s a really nice addition to Apple’s built in personal assistant, not to mention it makes finding all those photos you took of your dog back in May much easier.
Limit What You See on Your iPhone Lock Screen
Some people are fans of having all their notifications and information show up on the iPhone’s lock screen. Others… not so much. If you’re one of those people who wants to limit what appears on your iPhone lock screen, the good news is Apple has heard your pleas. In the new iOS update, you can now head into your Settings area and change what appears on your lock screen. This includes notifications from applications like Siri, Home Control, Wallet, and Today View – as well as others. This is a nice feature to finally see make its way onto iPhone, and it allows for greater customization to make sure you’re only seeing the things that matter most to you when you first pick up your phone in the morning. Now you never have to worry about missing your best friends Snapchats or iMessage due to weather or Facebook updates.
These are just three of the many tips and hidden features that Apple has added to the iPhone with iOS 10. There are plenty more out there waiting to be found, so don’t be afraid to experiment with all the settings in your iPhones options area.
