Ubisoft Acquires Ketchapp, 2048 Developer
Ubisoft takes a step forward in establishing itself further as a mobile giant.
Ubisoft may have been in trouble over the last few months with Vivendi's impending hostile takeover, but now the company has gone forward with its own acquisition: that off mobile developer Ketchapp. Yes, the same Ketchapp that brought us the Threes clone called 2048.
This is a pretty massive get for Ubisoft, which brings it up to the company being established as the fourth largest mobile developer when it comes to total downloads. The company announced the news in a press release describing the deal, as well as the recent successes Ketchapp has had as a whole. The company has also produced the excellent Crazy Circle and Stack, quite possibly one of the most addictive games of all time as far as mobile apps are concerned.
It also has Jelly Jump, Risky Road, Twist and Don't Touch the Spikes as well as a fairly large portfolio of other titles to choose from. Ubisoft's acquisition makes perfect sense, and it'll be interesting to see how the company will be proceeding with the company going forward.
