Because even the smallest minutiae deserve to be cataloged.
There are parts of games that we never really think about. I know I tend to find the warning screens on games annoying and a bit tedious, but when you sit back and think about it, someone on each game team puts their heart and soul into making the messages that we desperately want the press START to skip.
When the Game Boy Color released, each cart needed a warning screen when it was inserted into a regular Game Boy to notify the player that the cart was only compatible with a Game boy Color. While some games just gave a generic message letting the player know about the system incompatibility, some developers put a little bit more art and flare behind their messages.
Thankfully vgmuseum.com has undertaken the painstakingly tedious job of cataloging these compatibility warning screens so that the future will never forget the hidden artistry of developers past. There's a huge and interesting assortment of screens, and it's a great tour of a very overlooked part of gaming history.
