Android Things, Google's Internet of Things Solution, Gets a Developer Preview

Google revealed its competing platform to Apple's HomeKit today. Android Things combines its previous Internet of Things platform, Brillo, with Android developer tools such as Android SDK, Google Play Services, Android Studio, and cloud computing.
Google is partnering with manufacturers to developer IoT solutions based on Intel's Edison, the Raspberry Pi 3, and the NXP Pico. Big companies are also signing on for Weave, Googles IoT communications platform, with WeMo, Honeywell, Wink, First Alert, TP-Link, and LiFX all adopting the technology which will allow them to connect to Google Assistant and other devices utilizing Weave.
Android Things is setting the foundation to bring all of Google's disparate Internet of Things platforms into a coherent structure. In the next few years, we'll see Android and Apple competing in even more complex and diverse was as Android Things comes together to take on Apple HomeKit.
