Super Mario Run's New Game Mode Means You Can Play Toad Rally Without the Stakes
When nothing's at stake, you can enjoy Toad Rallies more.
If you were sticking to Toad Rally for daily play since it seemed like the only thing you could play without getting bored of the same old levels, you might want to log into Super Mario Run today, which has a brand new mode: Friendly Run, which is meant to allow you to play against friends and strangers in Toad Rally, but without the high stakes of losing your Toads.
Normally, competing in the Toad Rally mode means you can go up against others to attempt to best their scores, but you must spend a Toad Rally ticket and you run the risk of losing the hard-earned Toads you've attracted to your kingdom.
You can only race in one Friendly Run a day if you haven't cleared World 1, which means you must spend the $9.99 to unlock the rest of the game and play more Friendly Runs. When you complete the first world that limit jumps to three races a day. Finish up the second world, and you can do up to five races a day.
This is the second bit of post-launch content that Nintendo has released for the popular endless runner, with holiday content released earlier last week including a Sparkly Snow Globe, Poinsettia, and Sparkly Christmas Tree that you must unlock with coins after reaching the required amount of Toads for each item. This comes after supposed reports that the game would not receive additional post-launch content.
