CES 2017: Blackberry Mercury Smartphone With Physical Keyboard Shown
The Consumer Entertainment Show or CES has been the place to discover innovations and technological breakthroughs for quite a few years. It appears that Blackberry will be unveiling their new handset, the Mercury. From press photos, the Mercury will have a jet-black physical keyboard.
The keyboard setup could be seen as an anachronism with everyone using touch screen technology. However, there will always be an audience for physical keyboards on smartphones, so there will always be a consumer base for these types of handsets. If you're longing for the killer keyboard of the original Droid, the Blackberry Mercury might be the phone of your dreams.
This year marks the 50th year for CES so why wouldn’t companies want to go into the show/convention with a bang? Blackberry is doing just that with this handset. Blackberry and Canadian firm TCL worked out the final parts of an agreement in December, which means TCL will keep an eye on the development/production on the Mercury handset. Rumors making the rounds online have the Mercury with 3GB of Ram and 32 GB of internal storage.
It should be interesting to see what else comes out of CES this year. If it’s anything like E3, a comparable convention/show, there will be plenty of standout products that'll surprise us.
