Samsung's Upcoming Virtual Assistant Will Be Called Bixby
Yes, that's the name. You read that correctly.
Samsung’s upcoming virtual assistant is named Bixby, a detail that the South Korean company has let slip when it comes to some of its various communications over the last few weeks.
Bixby is going to be Samsung’s answer to Siri, Google Now, Cortana and Alexa, and is meant to utilize Samsung’s PIM software, Samsung’s web browser, and now Samsung Pay, if a recent image uploaded to Samsung’s website is to be believed. An image explaining three options on how to pay for goods, including “Shopping, Mini and Bixby” appeared on the site recently.
Samsung’s flagship assistant is meant to act as the analogue to Siri and company and is said to be standardized across all of the devices that will utilize it, such as smartphones, tablets, and more. It didn’t appear that Samsung was quite ready to out the assistant just yet, of course, but it’s good that we get used to the name sooner rather than later, which is…unorthodox, to say the least when you consider the rest of what’s out there currently.
Hopefully Samsung will comment further on the situation as more details slip out about Bixby as the days pass.
