Fire Emblem Heroes: Shards, Crystals, And Where To Get Them
Fire Emblem Heroes may simplify the strategy formula down to a mobile-friendly format, but it still features some mechanics that aren't explained as well as they could be or made terribly clear. If you're hoping to strengthen your hero-filled army, then you'll want to know all about shards and crystals. Here's what you need to know.
How to obtain and use Shards and Crystals
As with any Fire Emblem game, leveling your troops is an important part of Heroes. If your units start to fall behind, or you summon a bunch of new ones who all start at level one, then you could find yourself up for a grind to catch them all up. This is where Fire Emblem Heroes' shards and crystals come into play. If you've been playing through the story, then you've likely gotten your hands on a fair number of these already, even if you didn't know what they were for. They're actually incredibly useful, as their purpose is to level up your heroes between missions. Shards work on characters up to level 19, and then you'll need crystals instead. Yellow shards can be used on any hero you like, while the others will need to be used on heroes of their corresponding color — red, blue, green, and silver.
So how do you get your hands on these shards? The easiest way, and the way you've probably gotten the ones you have so far, is simply by playing through the story. There are quests set up for finishing each chapter that will reward you with yellow shards. There are other, more specific quests that will reward you with shards of various colors as well. Finally, the Training Tower offers various rewards depending on the day that you train there. Playing during certain times can net you shards and badges of different colors.
