Google Maps Lets You Save And Share Locations With New 'Lists'
A new feature added to Google Maps hopes to make it more social.
Google Maps has long been a great way to find your way around or to look up locations you hear about, but now Google hopes to make the whole platform a bit more social as well. An update today rolled out a new feature called Lists onto the app for both iOS and Android devices. As you could probably guess from the name, this feature allows you to create custom lists of places and save them for later or share them with others. There are three types of lists ready to be filled in by default — Favorites, Starred Places, and Want to Go — but you can make your own custom ones as well.
Are there a bunch of restaurants you've been meaning to visit? Save their locations to a list. Have some favorite spots around town? Make a list and share them with a friend. You can make your lists public so that anyone can look them up and check them out, or simply share them with a link through messaging or social media. Google has posted a short video on how to make use of the new feature, which you can check out above. While it's currently only available for the mobile app, the plan is to add it to the web version of Google Maps in the future. Until then, you can at least check out others' lists on the web by clicking the shared links. The update should be out now for iOS and Android, so go make some lists, if you're so inclined.
