Pokemon Go Getting Over 80 More Pokemon
Grab your pokedex and your pokeballs, trainers, because it's about time to get back out on the trail. Niantic announced this morning that the world of Pokemon Go is about grow even larger, as a substantial number of Gen 2 pokemon get ready to run around our world. We started with a glimpse into the Johto region pokedex when baby pokemon were introduced late last year, but now we'll start being able to get our hands on some of the better known entries as well.
Over 80 pokemon from Gold and Silver will be rolling out starting later this week. This includes the Johto starters — Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. More evolutions will be added for some pokemon that already inhabit the game as well. The encounter screen is getting a bit of work done to it, with some new reactions from pokemon as you try to catch them, and a new item carousel for picking berries and balls right from that screen. Speaking of berries, two new types of treats are being added — Nanab berries and Pinap berries. The former slows the movement of pokemon, making them easier to catch, while the latter nets you more candy on your next successful catch.
To top it all off, you'll finally be able to customize your avatar a bit more, with new avatars and an expanded wardrobe to choose from. We just recently learned that battles and trading are finally on the way to Pokemon Go — though they'll start in an "abbreviated" form — so this substantial addition to the roster could help get people out and catching again.
